Rehearsal Duet
This image represents my years in rehearsal studios as an instructor and a performer. The hours of practice and dedication the dancers put in to perfect their dance technique and performance qualities are immeasurable! Ukrainian dance is emotionally charged and represented in its music with often storytelling symbolism. Personally, it is an important part of my creative expression! The hours of rehearsal are represented in the formality of the dance practice costume, usually black, in which dancers spend more time in as opposed to the performance costumes. The Black and Red colouring creates a dramatic symbolism of Ukrainian culture particularly of the all-important red boots and tying it to the traditional Red Poppy, the national flower of Ukraine.
